Summary

Description St. Patrick's Catholic Cathedral - Parramatta, New South Wales. An earlier church on this site was built in 1854, with the tower and spire added in 1880. In 1936 a new church was contructed, incorporating the tower and spire from the earlier building. The church became a Cathedral in 1986. In 1996 a fire almost completely destroyed the church, leaving only the outside walls and tower standing. The new cathedral (on the right) was opened in 2003, with the old cathedral now the Blessed Sacrement Chapel.
