Summary
Description St Mary's Old Church, Stoke Newington - geograph.org.uk - 1469212.jpg |
English:
St Mary's Old Church, Stoke Newington Every inch the village church, which is exactly what it was until the mid 19th century, when the rapidly expanding local population caused a grander new church to be built across the road. This church is still used for services although there are plans to convert it into an arts centre. It is unusual in that it was one of the few churches built in the Elizabethan period, so was never a Roman Catholic church.
