Melbidir II(ship).
Melbidir II anchored off Karumba near the mouth of the Norman River on the Gulf of Carpentaria in Northern Queensland. Karumba is named after an Aboriginal tirbe which inhabited this area. Previously in the 1860's the township was known as Kimberley. There had been a proposal for an overseas cable from Java . (Description supplied with photograph).
