Canungra Mill, Canungra, ca. 1918
In 1884 David Lahey established the Canungra Sawmills. They were totally destroyed by fire in 1897 but rebuilt on a larger and more modern scale. In 1900 construction of the tramway began. Once more the Sawmills were destroyed by fire in 1906 but were rebuilt. In 1912 new machinery was installed. In 1920 Lahey's limited went into voluntary liquidation.
