Summary
Description Thelopsis isiaca Stizenb 614302.jpg |
Thelopsis isiaca Stizenb. Image location: Cordão dunar Consolação-Peniche, Portugal These small little balls, only noticed by the intense shine under the incidence of sun light, literally covered some of the shrubs (see the photos of the habitat) which make the “frontier” between common soil and the sand of the dunes close to the sea. Most of these shrubs are relatively poor in lichen, while others have some Ramalina spp. and Lecanora spp. . Those dressed with Thelopsis , which I think to be the genus of these specimens due the similarity with observation 164774 , also had many specimens of Dirina ceratoniae , one of the species that I only found at this zone of the country. I can hardly wait for the opportunity to observe them under the scope. Curiously I think that this same day I found another colony at the place of my previous observation, cited above. Recognized by sight: See observation 164774 . Used references: A. Aptroot, C. O. Mendonça, L. I. Ferraro and M. E. S. Cáceres: A world key to species of the genera Topelia and Thelopsis (Stictidaceae), with the description of three new species from Brazil and Argentina, The Lichenologist 46(6): 801–807 (2014).
