Summary
Description Thick-billed Raven Courtship, Simien Mountains, Ethiopia (2458683326).jpg |
I came across this charming pair of Thick-billed Ravens (Corvus crassirostris) on the grounds of the Simien Lodge in the Simien Mountains of Ethiopia. According to Wikipedia, the Thick-billed Raven is the largest member of its family, the Corvids, which includes crows, ravens, rooks, jackdaws, jays, magpies, treepies, choughs and nutcrackers. In fact, the Thick-billed Raven is the largest member of the order that includes all perching birds! Wikipedia says this bird's range "covers Eritrea, Somalia and Ethiopia; its habitat includes mountains and high plateau between elevations of 1500 to 2400 metres." This pair must not have read Wikipedia, because the site where I photographed them was at 3,260 meters above sea level. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thick-billed_Raven |
