Description Thymelicus sylvestriseggs.jpg |
Thymelicus sylvestris eggs with young caterpillars visible trough the eggshell. NB : In contrast with other Thymelicus species, T. sylvestris normally lay its eggs on green leaves. Here the eggs were collected by Stéphane Claerebout (thanks to him !!) just after egg laying but I made the pictures some times later, and the leaves have dried in the meanwhile... The eggs are laid between the stem (that has been removed for the picture) and the leaf sheath. The compretion of the eggs between the stem and the sheath is causing the typical flattening of these eggs. Egg length = ~ 2mm - Focus stack of 60 pictures - Schneider Kreuznach Componon 28 mm f/4 at f/4 reversed on bellow - Lighting with 2 flashes : one highly diffused form above the eggs, one from behind the leaf not diffused |
