Summary
Description Trump SoHo tower from Varick Street.jpg |
English:
The Trump SoHo, located at the corner of Varick Street and Spring Street in the Hudson Square neighborhood of Manhattan, New York City, was designed by David Rockwell and Handel and Associates. Originally built as residences, the building was too tall for the area's zoning, so it was converted into a "hotel" which the inhabitants can only live in for part of the year. The building was then built higher than allowed even for an hotel. It was completed in 2008. The
AIA Guide to New York City
calls it a "banal glass box". (Source:
AIA Guide to NYC
(5th ed.)) This view of the building's tower is from Varick Street.
