Summary

Description U.S. and Albanian leaders join students, faculty and parents June 11 for the official reopening of “28 Nentori,” a local nine-year school in Kucove, Albania. U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Europe District managed a $575,000 renovation in support of U.S. Embassy Tirana’s Office of Defense Cooperation and U.S. European Command’s humanitarian-assistance program. Nearly 600 children ages 6-15 attend the school, which was built in 1964 and had never been fully renovated. Kucove Mayor Bardhyl Gjyzeli, school director Mjaftoni Dhimitri and Navy Cmdr. Ralph Shield, the American Embassy’s defense attaché, were among the top U.S. and Albanian representatives at the dedication.
