SOME 18 MILLION PASSENGERS WERE CARRIED BY AMTRAK IN 1974, AN INCREASED OF 10 PERCENT FROM THE PREVIOUS YEAR. THE CORPORATION HAD REVENUE OF $256.9 MILLION AND A DEFICIT OF $272.6 MILLION IN 1974
