Il Vocabolario degli Accademici della Crusca fu stampato a Venezia e uscì nel 1612, suscitando immediatamente grande interesse e altrettanto accese dispute riguardo ai criteri adottati; in particolare, a molti non piacque l’aperto fiorentinismo arcaizzante proposto dal Vocabolario, che comunque rappresentò per secoli, in un’Italia politicamente e linguisticamente divisa, il più prezioso e ricco tesoro della lingua comune, il più forte legame interno alla comunità italiana, quindi lo strumento indispensabile per tutti coloro che volevano scrivere in buon italiano. Ebbe grande fortuna in tutta Europa e divenne modello di metodo lessicografico per le altre accademie europee nella redazione dei vocabolari delle rispettive lingue nazionali. |
