Wesley_Centre,_128_Fratton_Road,_Fratton_(March_2019)_(1).JPG

Summary

Description Wesley Centre, 128 Fratton Road, Fratton, City of Portsmouth, England. Methodist worship on this site has a long history: the site was bought in 1886 and the first chapel opened three years later. It was demolished in 1899 and a new, larger Central Hall opened in 1900. Yet another replacement opened in 1927 (the old buildings had to be demolished to widen the road), then it was rebuilt again after bomb damage. This building was in turn demolished in 1990 and the new Wesley Central Hall and community centre opened in 1992; but the last service was held in 2009 and the building was sold to the Chinese community of Portsmouth.
