English: Adopted: March 19, 1962

Description: The ratio of length to width shall be 4:3. The emblem, which is the dominant element in the design, shall have a diameter equal to 6/10 of the flag's width and shall be centered on the horizontal and vertical axes of the flag. The flag will comprise the same colors as the North Carolina State flag, plus golden brown for tobacco leaves, and green for trees. The flag will show the official emblem of the City of Winston-Salem on a field of dark blue. The coloring of the emblem will be as follows:

   Tobacco leaves (on top half of circle) - golden brown
   Top scroll (with words "Winston-Salem") - antique gilt with dark blue lettering
   Bottom scroll (with words "Urbs Condita Adiuvando") - antique gilt with dark blue lettering
   Half circle ringing top side of bottom scroll - white
   Central circle (and behind top scroll with "Winston-Salem" and behind tobacco leaves) - dark red
   Arc at bottom (with letter "N.C." and star) - dark blue with white letters and star
   Scroll above arc (with date 1913, the date towns of Winston and Salem merged) - white with dark blue numbers
   Full circle around central emblem - white
   Ground circle surrounding book - dark blue
   Stripes at bottom of book (with dates "1849" and "1766", dates the town of Winston and town of Salem were established, respectively) - white with dark blue numbers
   Buildings shown in book - dark red with dark blue roofs
   Trees behind church - dark green
Sky - white"
