Summary

Description
English: A New South Wales XPT passenger train bound for Melbourne at Gunning, New South Wales , on 28 March 2009. Two power cars, one at each end, haul six passenger cars on this occasion. XPTs are a modified version of the British InterCity 125 , the main differences being a taller, wider body and a bogie design more suited to rougher track seen in New South Wales. The photo was taken a few days before the upper-quadrant semaphore signal — the last on the Sydney–Melbourne line — was decommissioned, replaced by a colour-light signal .
