Zeichen 242.1: Beginn einer Fußgängerzone. Das am 1. Oktober 1988 eingeführte Zeichen erhielt 2009/2013 eine neue Unternummer. Es ist seit 1992 in folgenden Größen erhältlich: 600x600 und 840x840 mm. RWB 2000 besagt, daß die Standardgröße von Zonenzeichen 840 x 840 mm ist. Der Eckradius der Zeichen beträgt 40 mm.
