The brain analyzes the flood of incoming information, decides how to respond, and sends outgoing signals to muscles and other organs, telling them what to do. Much of your nervous system is under voluntary control, which means you can choose how to react. However, many parts of the nervous system work automatically, controlling your internal organs and reflexes without your conscious awareness.
